Things to do close to home

There is plenty to do and see in the Fredericksburg area. Fredericksburg was founded (1728) as a port city serving Spotsylvania County (1720). It is often referred to as ''The Most Historic Town in America''. Three centuries of history; Colonial America, the boyhood home of George Washington, Revolutionary War, and site of 4 civil war battles.

If George Washington ever chopped down a cherry tree it would have been at Ferry Farm, and if he ever threw a dollar across a river it would have been the Rappahannock.

The battlefields of Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania are known as the bloodiest landscape in North America (what a mess), 85,000 wounded, 15,000 killed; freedom sought and contested. Anyhow, for Civil War buffs FXBG is an atrraction. We have toured the parks and they are interesting enough.
